At evee, the safety of our hosts and their vehicles is our highest priority — and it is something we take just as seriously as you do. Unlike listing your car on Gumtree or Facebook Marketplace, every person who sends you a booking request on evee has already passed through a rigorous, multi-layered verification process before their request ever reaches you.

By the time you receive a booking request, we have already completed the following checks on your behalf.

Every renter is required to verify their driver licence using Stripe Identity, our identity verification provider. This process includes a biometric liveness check — the renter must take a real-time selfie which is compared against their licence photo using facial recognition technology. This confirms that the person making the booking is a real, living person, and that they are who they claim to be. It is not possible to use someone else's licence or a photo of a photo to pass this check.

The Stripe Identity verification allows us to ensure each renter complies with the minimum driver age requirements for the type of vehicle.

All renters are required to complete a driver declaration confirming their driving history and eligibility. This declaration is reviewed against our insurance requirements to ensure the renter meets the minimum standards to be covered under our policy. The full rental amount is authorised at the time of booking — not after. Every payment is processed through 3D Secure (3DS) authentication, which means the renter's bank independently verifies the transaction before it is approved. This confirms that the card being used belongs to the person making the booking, and that they have the funds available. Renters cannot book without the money being confirmed upfront.

Every renter's mobile phone number is verified via a one-time SMS code during account registration. This ensures that each account is linked to a real, active phone number.

Renters must verify their email address before they can complete a booking. An email confirmation code is sent to the address provided, and the account cannot proceed without it being confirmed.

Renters are required to provide and verify their residential address as part of the account setup process. This adds an additional layer of accountability and traceability to every booking.

Every layer of verification described above is designed to ensure that only legitimate, identifiable, and financially capable renters can access your vehicle.
