The rental process

evee is a peer-to-peer electric vehicle sharing platform that connects renters with hosts who share their EVs with the community. Follow the steps below to make your first booking.

Step 1: Create your evee account

Register for an account and complete the verification process. This is required for you and any additional drivers you wish to include in your booking.

For a step-by-step guide, refer to Creating and setting up your account.

Step 2: Search for a vehicle

Once your account is verified, head to the homepage to begin your search. Enter the suburb or city where you plan to pick up the vehicle in the Location field, then set your travel dates and times. If your dates are flexible, enable the I'm flexible option to browse all available vehicles in your selected region.

The displayed price reflects the total cost for your selected dates. If using the flexible option, it shows the daily hire rate.

Step 3: Place a booking request

When you find a vehicle that suits your needs, click on the listing to view the full details. Before submitting a booking request, check the following:

  • The total distance included — additional fees may apply if you exceed the included kilometres

  • The return charge level — returning the vehicle with less charge than agreed may result in additional fees

  • The Pick-up & return location — if you need delivery and the host offers it, confirm your locations

  • Any additional expectations listed in the Description section of the listing

When you are ready, click Book this car to review your booking and send a message to the host with any details about your trip. The more context you provide, the more likely the host is to accept your request.

Once you finalise your request, the total booking amount will be pre-authorised on your payment method. Your host then has 24 hours to review and respond.

If the host approves your request, the pre-authorisation is captured and your booking is confirmed. If the host declines, the pre-authorisation is simply released — it drops from your account as if the charge never took place. No refund is issued because no payment was ever processed.

Step 4: Arrange the handover

Once your booking is confirmed, the host's contact information will be available in your booking confirmation email and on the platform via Messages. Contact your host to confirm the pick-up location and any other details.

24 hours before the start of your rental, a security deposit will be pre-authorised on your payment method.

On the day of the handover, take photos of the vehicle from all angles to document its condition and note any pre-existing damage.

Step 5: Return the vehicle

At the end of your rental, return the vehicle to the agreed location. If you anticipate a late return, contact your host in advance and submit an extension request through your booking — late returns without an approved extension may result in additional fees and may affect your insurance coverage.

After returning the vehicle, take photos to document its condition. If no damage is reported within 48 hours of your rental ending, the security deposit pre-authorisation is released and drops from your account automatically.

You will receive a follow-up email inviting you to review your rental experience. Your feedback helps hosts build their reputation on the platform.
