Familiarise yourself with evee's Fair Wear and Tear Guide to understand what is considered reasonable wear and what you can charge a renter for.
When dealing with any damage, clear photos of your vehicle from before and after the rental are essential. Damage must be reported to us within 48 hours of the incident to determine when it occurred and whether the renter is liable. It is very important to get into the habit of taking photos at the start and end of every rental. Failure to accurately document the pre-existing condition of the vehicle may result in an inability to recover the cost of repairs from the renter if they dispute the damage claim.
Minor Damage
Minor damage is generally classified as damage with a repair cost of less than $500. The most common type is wheel damage, though small paint chips and scratches can also occur.
If your vehicle has sustained minor damage during a rental, you can usually resolve it directly with the renter. evee has an extra payment request feature available within your booking, where you can upload images of the damage along with quotes or receipts for the cost of repair, and request payment from the renter directly. This is usually a straightforward process. If the matter escalates, please reach out to us via the chat icon at the bottom of this page.
Major Damage
Please report any damage that is not minor as soon as you become aware of it by completing our Damage Submission Form.
Once the form has been submitted, a member of our support team will be in touch. We may ask you to begin the damage resolution process by sourcing quotes to assess the extent of the damage, while we reach out to the renter for their response.
After collecting and assessing evidence from both parties, evee will determine who is liable. Throughout this process, we aim to act from a neutral perspective in order to be fair to both sides.
Where the renter is found liable, we will charge them accordingly and use those funds to cover the cost of repair. If the renter is found not liable, you will be required to cover any repair costs.
If a Claim Is Required
We are able to resolve most major damage cases without involving the insurer. However, if the damage is significant enough, an insurance claim will need to be initiated and you will be required to complete a claims form. We will advise you if this is the case and guide you through the process.
